"Come and learn who you are in the eyes of God"
St. Eugene de Mazenod
The Congregation of the Missionary Oblates of Mary Immaculate was founded in 1816 by a young French priest, Fr Eugene de Mazenod, who was deeply moved by the situation of the Church and the needs of the people in Aix-en-Provence in the aftermath of the French Revolution. In 1807, deeply aware of God's love revealed in Jesus Christ, he decided to become a priest and "missionary to the poor".
Today the Missionary Oblates number over 4000 Brothers and Priests working on five continents in 65 countries. Our life and mission is to witness to the "liberating and transforming presence of Jesus Christ" wherever we find ourselves, but especially among those dispossessed.
